Imagination Library

What is Dolly Parton's Imagination Library?

Children enrolled in the program receive a free, high quality book in the mail each month from birth until they turn five. The first book for every enrolled child is The Little Engine That Could by Watty Piper. After that, all books are geared toward the specific age of the child. By the time they enter kindergarten, children will have their own library of books and have already developed a lasting love of reading! Studies show children enrolled in the program have more developed social-emotional skills and are more prepared to enter school and become strong readers.

In Juneau, children enrolled in the program also receive a monthly Juneau Parent Bulletin, filled with ideas for reading with children and information about free local family events. Families are also invited to monthly Family Nights facilitated by the Juneau City and Borough Parks & Recreation,  Southeast Alaska AEYC.
