Partnerships History & Members
Starting in 1988 five core agencies, serving families and young children, identified unmet community needs which led them to research and apply for the Healthy Families program. With the addition of Even Start and Healthy Families programs in 1995, the “Home Visiting Managers Group” began meeting monthly. Quarterly inter-agency training began, and the Teen Family Center concept was developed by the group. In 1999, the Juneau Transition Team was formed, which included many of the same team members.
Past Projects:
Blanket of Wellness
Xtra Tough Campaign
Garden to Preschool
Early Success
With increased collaboration between different groups serving families and young children, Legislative open houses were held, the Family Pages Resource Guide was completed, and several collaborative grants were written, including the 0-5 Continuity Grant, Alaska Children’s Trust, and The Blanket of Wellness mental health consultant system.
Joining Forces
Fueled by these successful coordination projects, members of the Home Visiting Managers Group and the Juneau Transition Team shared the costs of a facilitator for a planning retreat in the spring of 2002. The forward momentum continued over the summer with the development of a new name, vision statement, and outreach to include additional partners and community representatives. Members of the new group shared costs to develop a website and a common parent and staff training event calendar.
Ongoing Projects and Supports:
Juneau Parent Bulletin
Family Pages Resource Guide
Circle of Security Training for families and caregivers
Family Center Development
